Blue Bins
Today is a happy day. Four weeks ago we forgot to put out the blue bins, with the recycling paper card glass plastic and tins. Today, two collections later, we have caught up with ourselves again.

Inspiring Family
Thank you for knowing three generations of an inspiring family. A party celebrating a 50 year birthday, a brother and sister accompanying each other singing and playing clarinet, and a 75 year old in poor health starting a new adventure.

cake
Thankful for home made cake made with home grown blackberries, and also, on a day that Ann was tired from three social engagements, a wash load, and making the cakes, there was mince already cooked yesterday in the fridge for our evening meal.

Dave's talk
David Connolly spoke on Thankfulness this morning, and I was reminded of a time when I was at a very low ebb, possibly depressed, toward the end of my time at university.
I purposed to give thanks, each day, for four things that pertained to that day.
I was not giving thanks for eternal things, like forgiveness or the love of God, or things we take for granted, like water in the tap, but things that had happened that day. A kind word, a chance encounter, or a friendly smile. In all the time that I kept this discipline, which was hard, as I was quite demoralised at the time, there was never a day when I failed to find four things, that had happened that day, to give thanks to God for.
This blog is my opportunity to express, mainly for my benefit rather than anyone else's, thankfulness to God. Sometimes they will pertain to the day, other times they will be long term or eternal. Sometimes they will be earnest, other time they will be frivolous. The aim is to make one post each day, but that is an aim, not a rod for my back. Although I like to make well crafted blog posts, some of them may be rough and ready.
If you enjoy reading them, that is good, if not, find somebody else's blog to read.
